Community Action Council

The Community Action Council takes a holistic approach to provide services to low income families, and strive to increase community involvement and leadership in their efforts to combat poverty.  In 2103, they were able to help 900 families with energy assistance programs, 45 families with rental assistance, and housed 45 homeless individuals. They also helped 60 early head start children and 13 migrant head start children gain the skills they need to successfully transition to preschool and kindergarten. They began operation in 1965.  Laura Hays is the center’s manager and they are located at 1414 Main Street. They are open Monday through Friday from 8:30-6:00.
